In class, we were asked to work at a ‘gamma’ version of our visualisation. We investigated some work in adding tooltips to show the team name when hovering on the team logos. More information can be found at our development page.

It sure is a sleek tooltip, didn’t know some of the logos were so detailed! I also didn’t have performance issues this time. Did you improve this too, or is it the internet connection?
without trying to be creepy: we noticed your performance issues when you were trying out our visualization in class last week. We were quite amazed that it was so slow, since it always runs smoothly on our computers. Because we weren’t able to find any problem ourselves, we didn’t change anything. So if your problems are now solved, than it probably was the connection indeed. Did you have the same performance issues in other places? Or was it just the classroom?
Tried the visualization with the same machine as in the classroom, but now with a faster internet connection: no problems indeed. Not much to do about a bad connection i guess 🙂
Actually, we did not improve anything about performance, since the JSON files are also located at the FTP. That’s why we think that most of the performance issues are indeed related to the internet connection..
However, at the start of the development, we used a google spreadsheet to keep the data. Each time the page loaded, the data was read out of the spreadsheet. This indeed slowed down the whole process. But since November, we changed this by using JSON files.
I definitely like the tooltip! Much easier for people who don’t know the logo’s be heart to select the teams of their interest.
